The course explores the concepts (including the DCC Curation Lifecycle model) and frameworks (for example IIIF, metadata standards, publishing tools, and strategies) that support public access, aggregation, and reuse of digital collections in an environment increasingly shaped by automation, data reuse, and artificial intelligence.

Dean Smith has been working in libraries in various capacities for more than half his life, most recently as the Digital Preservation Lead at The Frick Collection.

His primary responsibilities are to coordinate the ingest of digitized materials into archival storage, and to integrate the institutional DAMS into The Frick’s preservation ecosystem. Dean’s academic background is in music history with a focus on the intersection of modern technologies and musical practice, especially the use of recording devices as compositional tools.

Molly works at the intersection of content, technology, and trust. Over nearly a decade at Dell, she has worked across DAM and content platforms as both a librarian and a product manager, gaining firsthand experience with the successes and shortcomings of large‑scale implementations while helping shift DAM beyond storage to enable speed, reuse, and confidence across the content supply chain.
