Pre-purchase due diligence
This session will consider a site from the prospective of a purchaser / investor looking to purchase a site. It will explore what due diligence is required, what red flags to look out for, and what sources of information should be used to gather as much information about the site as possible to make an informed decision whether to purchase, and what bid to make.

Vaughan has been a part of the Barton Willmore Masterplanning team for the past three years and has taken on a range of projects on behalf of developers, housebuilders and promoters. Vaughan graduated with a BA (First Class Hons) Architectural Studies, University of Technology, Jamaica, and has PG dip Architecture, and MA Urban Design (dist.) from Oxford Brookes University. Vaughan has over 20 years’ experience leading a wide range of masterplans and urban regeneration projects that involve complex spatial solutions and planning considerations.

Hannah is a Director in the London office of Barton Willmore. Having graduated in Town Planning from Oxford Brookes University, she started her professional career as a Land Buyer for a well-known FTSE 100 housebuilder, before moving into working as a planning consultant first for Environmental Resources Management, and then for Barton Willmore. She benefits from understanding the differing perspectives and pressures within the development process. 

Charlotte acts for a range of international clients, including institutional investors, developers, operators, banks and funds on all kinds of transactions involving commercial and residential property. 

She has developed particular expertise in complex development transactions in the hotel and leisure industry, advising on the whole lifecycle of a scheme  - from the identification and acquisition of a site, through to the development phase, financing and eventual opening.

Charlotte's experience includes:

Alex is a graduate of Cass Business School, and a chartered surveyor with over 15 years’ experience, he provides financial viability analysis and bespoke appraisals as part of the development process for a wide range of developers, landowners, public sector bodies and occupiers.

Sarah has extensive experience in all aspects of planning law and practice with a particular focus on London regeneration and redevelopment, compulsory purchase, high-rise development, infrastructure including energy infrastructure, road and rail, and large scale multi-use schemes.
