Events Semantic Data New York 2025 Panel Session: Semantic Architects vs. AI: Who Curates the Future?

“We predict that A.I.s will continue to improve to the point where they’re fully autonomous agents that are better than humans at everything by the end of 2027 or so.”

- Daniel Kokotajlo, Project Lead, AI 2027

The big question:

The rapid advancement of AI, particularly in natural language processing, machine learning, and knowledge representation has sparked both excitement and anxiety across the data and knowledge communities. For professionals who build, curate, and interpret structured data (taxonomists, ontologists, and data professionals) the question looms large: Will AI take my job?

Specifically addressing:

  • Will ontology engineering be outsourced to generative models?
  • Are data pipelines and taxonomies becoming self-organizing?
  • Can human expertise continue to add value in a world where machines increasingly understand and generate meaning, and if so, how?
  • What’s hype and what’s realistic?

How to stay indispensable in a shifting technological landscape.
