Events Digital Preservation Summit 2026 - Securing Cultural Heritage in the Digital Age Figuring the DAM Thing Out: Digitization, Preservation, and What We Learned

At The Frick Collection, the DAM has long served as the locus of digitization activity, with the aim of digital preservation beginning as close to the point of creation as possible.

Exploring an evolution away from treating the “dark archive” as a wholly separate system toward a more integrated, hybrid approach in which DAMS and preservation functions work as best as possible to align with the Open Archival Information System (OAIS) model, we’ll draw on practical experience sharing the lessons learned, with considerations for institutions building sustainable, scalable digital stewardship programs.
