Events DAM LA 2026 Day 1 Leveraging Our Strength During a Time of Substantial Growth – a Small Team but with a Big Responsibility

Context:

People Inc. is the largest publishing company in the United States, responsible for over 40 iconic brands and reaching nearly 200 million people every month.  Over the past 10 years, we’ve had astronomical growth in all areas, including the internal DAM system. Things have only gotten more complicated in the expansive universe of DAM – from social media and instantaneous internet news to new tools such as AI-powered image tagging and generation. So, we faced the challenge, “where do we go from here?”

Growth cannot continue at the rate and at the scale we’ve seen without the need to embrace rapid cultural change and implementing a solid internal structure that organizes and protects our digital assets.

What we did:

  • Implemented locked and required metadata fields for uploading content to the DAM.
  • Connected our DAM to an internal digital CMS.
  • Explored ways to embed metadata into our InCopy files before they were uploaded.

The future:

As we continue to grow and produce more content, we will implement rights automation wherever possible and scale our process to meet the needs of an ever-changing industry.

A session covering:

  • Adaptability and accountability: embracing company values and evolving processes.
  • Scaling and Integration: big-picture thinking, asking and answering, “Who and what would make this process more efficient?”
  • Automation and prioritization: implementing systems and identifying key information.
