Introducing your Course Leader
Clemency Wright is a search and metadata consultant helping organisations optimise access to digital
content through bespoke keywording methodologies and training.
Clemency trained as a keyworder at Getty Images in 2001, and soon developed an interest in how customers search for digital images. Clemency joined Getty’s Search Vocabulary team where she managed and maintained Getty’s thesaurus of keywords powering the global online licensing platform. Keen to diversify and expand upon this commercial experience, Clemency joined V&A Images as an account executive, performing image research and licensing for design and advertising customers. Whilst at the museum, Clemency advised on keywording best practice and helped develop the keywording training process and methodology for the V&A’s online image collection.
Clemency started freelancing in 2008 and set up her consultancy business (www.clemency.co.uk) in 2013. She blends practical keywording expertise alongside knowledge of a wide range of search systems, supporting global customers in both the commercial and non-profit sector.
Clemency specialises in metadata and search consultancy, with additional services including audits and diagnostics, quality control and keywording. Clemency also delivers bespoke training workshops and is a regular speaker at Digital Asset Management and taxonomy industry events. Clemency partners with a select number of DAM vendors on specific projects where premium metadata and keywording bring the highest value to end users.
Clemency is the founder of Make Search Better (www.makesearchbetter.com), an educational platform for organisations offering the tools needed to improve access and visibility to digital content.
