Events The Realm of Rights and the DAM Dilemma

This four-part course will cover the many rights considerations surrounding content that may intrude into the life of a DAM manager in today’s media and content landscape.

As platforms proliferate and content is sourced quickly for many new purposes DAM managers must:

  • Have a basic grasp of the rights issues around content as it flows into, and potentially out of, an organization.
  • Comply with all the financial obligations connected to re-use or distribution of the material.

Requirements to preserve original material, and restrictions on use of both objects and content may influence how DAM workflows are organized.

About the Course

We will look at what rights affect content; when, why and how a DAM might hold rights information; what level of effort is involved, and the pros and cons of taking on this responsibility in your DAM. At the end of the course, you will be able to assess your DAM/Rights position realistically, be able to structure a strategy, and be confident about conveying your conclusions to management.
