Sam is a global learning and development leader with a track record of partnering and agility to drive measurable learning impact across the Pharma, Biotech, MedTech, and High-Tech sectors. He has successfully led highly distributed global teams across multi-national environments competing in diverse markets with complex geopolitical environments. Sam is skilled at translating strategy into scalable operations and commercial capability solutions that improve competitive execution across global markets and teams.
Over a +25 year period, Sam accumulated a diverse range of experiences, from pre-IPO start-ups to some of the top multi-nationals in the world, successfully progressing into higher levels of responsibility and leadership, building a track record of success and business impact along the way for organizations such as Abbott Laboratories, Genentech (Roche), Intuit, Autodesk, GE Healthcare, Gilead Sciences and the US Military.
Sam’s responsibilities include leading small and large teams focused on building global end‑to‑end learning ecosystems that cut development and cycles, reduced costs, and accelerated time to competence through scalable, reusable learning journeys. Leveraged AI‑enabled capability building and data‑driven measurement and dashboards that enable strategic decision-making that drive measurable performance gains.
Sam holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Workforce Education and Development, a Master of Business Administration degree and various industry Certifications from the USA. In addition, Sam has worked, travelled and/or lived in over 10 countries across the Americas, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
Current Role
Sam is currently global head of learning strategy, platforms, operations and effectiveness for Gilead Sciences Global Commercial Business. A remit that includes 35 countries across 4 continents.
