Michal Kubin is a Senior Ontologist at zooplus SE, with 13 years of experience in eCommerce taxonomy, ontology, and largescale product classification, always with a strong focus on customer experience and shop navigation. At zooplus, he has been deeply involved in upgrading the legacy taxonomy of a 25yearold company into a modern, standardized system that enables automated category assignments for both 1P and 3P sellers through facetbased classification. Originally on a geography career path, Michal became an “unexpected taxonomist” — only to discover that maps, categories, and mappings have far more in common than expected. He still claims this was not an accident.
