Duncan works with content creators, business users, and system specialists to develop a new DAMS. The system supports access to Historic England’s archive of over one million digital images, and is used across the organisation for publications, media, marketing, education, and web content.
Duncan’s role focuses on interpreting between business need and technical capabilities to provide a platform that enables teams to find, access, and reuse shared imagery that is ready for wider use. Still a work in progress!
Duncan trained as an ancient historian and archaeologist before moving into knowledge organisation, working with historic environment records. He joined what is now Historic England 28 years ago and has worked extensively within the Archive. During this time, he has held a number of roles, including leading the picture library, e‑commerce, and business development.
